The Springfield Trail is a little over two miles long. Access and parking are on its northern end off AO Jones Boulevard near Nation Ford High School. There is currently no parking available on the southern end. Residents of Springfield will have access to the trail from each of the phases within the community.
The trail borders Sugar Creek on the eastern side of the Springfield development. The trail is compacted earth and in areas is subject to flooding from Sugar Creek, so use may be limited in times of wet weather. The trail does include several bluffs, which allow for scenic views of the creek. A suspension bridge near the southern end provides a crossing over a large drain, and is built on grade to accommodate bikers as well as hikers.
A variety of wildlife species, including white-tailed deer, turkey, waterfowl, and song birds can be seen along the trail and make this beautiful hardwood floodplain their home. The trail is open from sunrise to sunset. To ensure visitor safety, all hikers and bikers are encouraged to bring a friend.

Miles of sidewalks and community trails connect residents to the Nation Ford Greenway and to the Anne Springs Close Greenway across the street.
